MSI Wind is latest laptop taking on Asus Eee for world’s best.

msi-wind-gi.jpgIt looks like the Asus Eee went back to the drawing board at the right time. There’s a newcomer into the low-cost laptop battle and it’s packing a pretty good punch. The MSI Wind comes with a 10 inch display, Intel Shelton’08 platform, with variable processor speeds from 1.0GHz - 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, 2.5 inch HDD, runs on either Linux or Windows, and has a 7 hour battery life.

The Wind looks like it is going to be a pretty good little travel computer. It’s trying to keep up with the Asus by offering different colors and the battery life alone is something to raise an eyebrow over. Unfortunately, the Wind is still in production, as a working prototype is yet to be seen. And I do have some concern over it’s authenticity as being a “low-cost” uber laptop.

The choices and options are going to put the price range of the Wind anywhere from $458 to $1000. To me that doesn’t sound like the low-cost version will be all that powerful or enough to dethrone the Asus Eee. But, those numbers could change upon the final production. Stay close for more news.
